Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. in Tysons, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to lead hybrid cloud strategy across on‑prem and public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, and GCP). You will define standards, governance, and drive infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and secure architectures.

You will mentor engineering teams, evaluate new technologies, and translate complex security and compliance requirements into practical solutions while collaborating with DevOps and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with extensive professional experience.
• Advanced knowledge of hybrid cloud designs, security, and governance.
• Experience leading design and migration projects across on‑prem to cloud.
• Vendor certifications in electronic systems or cloud/security domains preferred.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design hybrid cloud solutions across on‑prem and public clouds (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Define cloud architecture standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
• Lead design and implementation of VPNs, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, IAM, storage, compute, and container solutions.
• Oversee migration strategies from on‑prem to hybrid/cloud environments.
• Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with DevOps to enable CI/CD and IaC; provide mentorship to engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design hybrid cloud solutions integrating on-prem infrastructure with public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Define cloud architecture standards, best practices, and governance frameworks
• Lead design and implementation of:
  • Virtual networks and connectivity (VPN, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect)
  • Identity and access management (IAM, Azure AD, SSO)
  • Storage, compute, and container-based solutions
• Oversee migration strategies from on-prem systems to hybrid/cloud environments
• Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and regulatory requirements
• Optimize workloads for cost, scalability, and performance
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to enable CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend strategic adoption
• May act as a subject matter expert, requiring formal and independent learning and the ability to translate this expertise into recommendations in specific circumstances.
• Communicates orally with customers and groups on technical security related issues.
• Writes reports to document mission events, research findings, procedures, and other technical security related issues.

Clearance/Citizen Type

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.

Requirements

• High School Diploma with 12+ years of experience with installation, troubleshooting and/or testing of electronic security systems or
• Associates with 10+ years of experience or
• Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years experience or
• Master's Degree with 5+ years experience
• System administrator experience in performing triage on system problems, resolving the system problems, analyzing system data to prevent problems, and implementing new workstations and system extensions
• Vendor certifications for electronic systems preferred
• Reliable attendance at customer site during work hours required by customer
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional nights and weekends
• Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS

Pay Range

USD $125,000.00 - USD $156,400.00 /Yr.
