The ideal candidate will evaluate existing IT environments, identify opportunities for cloud adoption and modernization, and recommend appropriate Azure services and architectural patterns. They will establish cloud architecture standards, oversee technical design decisions, and ensure that implemented solutions meet performance, availability, security, compliance, and budget expectations.
The Cloud Architect will also contribute to long‑term technology planning by assessing emerging Azure capabilities, improving cloud operational practices, and supporting continuous innovation. Candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical thinking, technical leadership, communication skills, and the ability to explain complex architectural concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Design end‑to‑end cloud architectures using Microsoft Azure services based on business, technical, and operational requirements.
Develop high‑level and low‑level architecture documents, solution blueprints, technical specifications, and implementation roadmaps.
Select appropriate Azure services for compute, storage, networking, databases, analytics, integration, and application hosting.
Design scalable, resilient, highly available, and fault‑tolerant cloud environments.
Establish reusable architectural patterns, reference architectures, and design standards for cloud‑based solutions.
Evaluate different implementation approaches and recommend solutions that balance performance, security, maintainability, and cost.
Assess existing on‑premises infrastructure, applications, and workloads to determine cloud migration readiness.
Develop migration strategies, including rehosting, refactoring, replatforming, and modernization where appropriate.
Plan application dependencies, migration sequencing, testing, validation, and cutover activities.
Design hybrid‑cloud and cloud‑native solutions that integrate Azure services with existing enterprise systems.
Identify opportunities to modernize legacy applications through containers, managed services, serverless computing, and platform services.
Support post‑migration optimization to improve reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
Incorporate security principles into every stage of cloud architecture and solution development.
Design identity and access management solutions using Microsoft Entra ID, role‑based access control (RBAC), and least‑privilege principles.
Apply appropriate network segmentation, encryption, secrets management, and secure connectivity practices.
Use Azure Key Vault and relevant security services to protect credentials, certificates, keys, and sensitive information.
Establish cloud governance standards covering resource organization, tagging, policy enforcement, access controls, and compliance.
Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to address applicable regulatory requirements and internal security policies.
Recommend monitoring and threat‑detection capabilities using appropriate Azure security tools.
Architect Azure virtual networks, subnets, network security groups, private endpoints, and secure connectivity.
Design hybrid connectivity solutions using VPN Gateway and Azure ExpressRoute where required.
Develop infrastructure designs for virtual machines, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure App Service, and other suitable hosting platforms.
Implement infrastructure‑as‑code strategies using tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
Define infrastructure provisioning standards that support repeatability, consistency, and controlled change management.
Evaluate load balancing, DNS, traffic management, and network performance requirements.
Define availability, scalability, resilience, and disaster recovery requirements for business‑critical workloads.
Design backup, replication, recovery, and business continuity strategies aligned with recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
Recommend suitable Azure availability zones, regional deployment models, and failover mechanisms.
Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability standards using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
Review application performance and infrastructure utilization to identify bottlenecks and architectural improvements.
Participate in technical reviews, resilience testing, disaster recovery exercises, and incident investigations.
Develop cost‑conscious architecture designs that maximize business value while maintaining required service levels.
