Role Focus
The Cloud Architect will help IT Infrastructure operationalize and mature our Microsoft Azure practices. The primary objective is to establish the architecture, standards, governance, automation, and operational discipline needed to deliver secure, resilient, supportable, and cost-effective cloud services. This role will create the structure that enables developers and analysts to move systems into a cloud model while giving Infrastructure clear ownership, repeatable practices, and the ability to operate those services after implementation.
Define and implement an Azure operating model, including landing zones, subscription and resource organization, governance, architecture standards, reusable patterns, and technical guardrails.
Build cloud adoption and migration roadmaps that address application and data dependencies, migration sequencing, cutover planning, operational readiness, and post-migration optimization.
Partner with Infrastructure, Security, Enterprise Architecture, application development, data and analytics, risk, audit, vendors, and managed service providers to make and document cloud architecture decisions.
Establish operational practices for identity and access, network connectivity, monitoring, logging, alerting, backup, recovery, resiliency, incident response, capacity, cost management, documentation, and support handoff.
Provide hands‑on technical leadership, mentor engineers, and create standards, reference architectures, runbooks, and training that improve the organizations long‑term cloud capability.
Deep Microsoft Azure architecture and engineering experience across enterprise landing zones, management groups, subscriptions, networking, identity, compute, storage, platform services, monitoring, and hybrid connectivity.
Advanced infrastructure‑as‑code and automation experience, preferably with Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines. Candidates should have created reusable modules, standards, and controls rather than only consuming existing automation.
Experience designing secure Azure environments using least privilege, segmentation, encryption, logging, policy enforcement, evidence collection, and other controls appropriate for regulated or high‑availability organizations.
Demonstrated experience planning and executing cloud migrations or modernization efforts involving applications, data, and infrastructure, including operational transition and measurable improvements after migration.
Experience establishing cloud operations, DevOps or SRE practices, including observability, service objectives, incident response, recovery testing, reliability engineering, and cloud cost optimization or FinOps.
Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification is preferred. Comparable cloud architecture, cloud security, or FinOps credentials are beneficial, but practical Azure transformation experience is more important than certification alone.
