Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect 2 to lead cloud architecture, IT modernization, and Data Center Operations transformation initiatives. Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in IT architecture, systems engineering, cloud architecture, or related technology roles.
• Experience with AWS and GCP; Azure a plus.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security, governance, compliance, and data protection, including HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Lead cloud architecture and modernization initiatives for enterprise applications and infrastructure.
• Design cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
• Develop architectural blueprints, network topologies, technical specifications, and solution designs.
• Support migration from on-premises to public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Iac) and cloud automation solutions.
• Design and support CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, containerization, and microservices.
• Architect and support Kubernetes clusters and serverless infrastructure.
• Utilize automation technologies including Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, and Azure ARM templates.
• Develop and maintain cloud security, IAM, governance, compliance, and data protection controls.
• Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
• Implement cloud monitoring, auditing, logging, and operational tools.
• Work with CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, GCP Cloud Operations, Dynatrace, Sysdig Secure, and other monitoring tools.
• Lead cross-functional technology initiatives involving HHSC teams and state agencies.
• Perform technology assessments, gap analysis, systems analysis, and architectural planning.
• Develop scalable cloud infrastructure supporting application integration, reporting, and enterprise systems.
• Support cloud database services, data lakes, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data integration initiatives.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and support multiple overlapping projects.
• Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standards, procedures, and best practices.

The selected candidate will design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available cloud and hybrid solutions supporting enterprise-wide technology needs. This role will work closely with enterprise architects, CTO leadership, application development teams, infrastructure teams, portfolio managers, and business stakeholders.
