Job summary

The Intersect Group is seeking a senior Cloud Architect to define and execute our Azure-centric cloud strategy, ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient platform solutions across enterprise environments.

You will lead modernization initiatives, establish governance and reference architectures, and mentor engineers, DevOps, and product teams to deliver cloud-first capabilities with strong cost optimization and reliability.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Azure services and related platform services.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM, or Bicep.
• Experience designing/containerized platforms using OpenShift, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Harbor Registry, or similar tools.
• Solid networking, identity management, security architecture, DR, and high availability in cloud environments.
• Experience in HIPAA-regulated environments and healthcare security requirements.
• Proven ability to lead enterprise architecture initiatives and influence multiple teams.
• Knowledge of observability platforms, automation frameworks, and FinOps.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience with hybrid/multi-cloud architectures.

Job description

• Define and execute the organization's cloud architecture strategy, roadmap, and standards with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Design and implement secure, scalable, highly available, and resilient cloud solutions aligned with business and technology objectives.
• Lead cloud modernization initiatives, including application migration, cloud-native development, and platform optimization.
• Establish enterprise architecture standards, reference architectures, and governance models for cloud services.

Platform Engineering & Operations

• Architect and optimize Azure infrastructure, networking, identity, storage, compute, and platform services.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep, or equivalent technologies.
• Lead containerization and Kubernetes platform strategy utilizing technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift, ArgoCD, and Harbor Registry.
• Ensure cloud environments are optimized for reliability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency through continuous monitoring and improvement.
• Apply observability platforms, automation frameworks, and cloud financial management (FinOps) practices.

Security & Compliance

• Design cloud security architectures that adhere to industry best practices and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
• Partner with Information Security teams to implement identity management, encryption, vulnerability management, logging, monitoring, and threat detection.
• Establish cloud governance policies related to security, compliance, resource management, and operational excellence.
• Support DevSecOps practices and secure CI/CD pipelines.
• Design and support hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments.

Technical Leadership

• Serve as the principal technical advisor for cloud architecture across the organization.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance to cloud engineers, software developers, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional teams.
• Lead architecture reviews and provide technical oversight for complex cloud initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend solutions that improve business capabilities and operational efficiency.
• Lead enterprise architecture initiatives and influence technical direction across multiple teams.
• Act as the primary technical liaison with third-party development and implementation partners.
• Collaborate with product management, application development, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure successful delivery of cloud initiatives.
• Support project planning, solution design, risk assessment, and technical decision-making across multiple programs.

Operational Excellence

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure and application issues.
• Develop disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies for cloud platforms.
• Monitor cloud utilization, spending, and operational health while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure cloud platforms maintain appropriate levels of reliability, availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Azure services, including Azure DevOps, Azure SQL, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Virtual Networks, Azure Monitor, and related platform services.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience designing and supporting containerized platforms using Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Harbor Registry, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of networking, identity management, security architecture, disaster recovery, and high availability in cloud environments.
• Experience supporting regulated environments with knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare security requirements.
• Proven ability to lead enterprise architecture initiatives and influence technical direction across multiple teams.
• Knowledge of observability platforms, automation frameworks, and FinOps.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience with hybrid cloud architectures and multi-cloud environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
