Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Distinguished Engineer to drive architectural leadership across cloud-native platforms and AI-enabled banking solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will guide complex projects, set technical direction, and mentor engineers while delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing systems.

You will work with ML experts, software engineers, product managers and people leaders to champion engineering excellence, ensure quality, and influence technology

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 7+ years of general software engineering and solution architecture experience.
• 5+ years shipping large-scale cloud platforms.
• 3+ years hands-on experience with LLM systems including RAG/embeddings, prompt/plan tooling, and model governance.

• Decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions.
• Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation.
• Serve as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics, such as performance, scalability and operability.

• Act as a role model and mentor within the tech community, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community.
