Job summary

Greater Mental Health of New York seeks a Clinician for the Youth ACT program in Valley Cottage, NY. The role focuses on mobile and community-based mental health services for youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance, delivered by a multidisciplinary team.

You will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, provide individual and group therapy, collaborate with schools and families, and maintain compliant records. Weekly supervision supports professional growth and clinical hours.

Qualifications

• Licensed NYS clinician: LMSW, LMHC, LCSW, LMFT or limited permit eligible.
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• Adherence to Agency Driver Policy.
• Defensive Driving certification.
• Experience in youth mental health.
• Confidentiality and professionalism in handling records.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to Youth ACT participants in home and community.
• Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and partners to assess mental health needs.
• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to determine goals and strategies.
• Develop age-appropriate therapeutic interventions and implement them.
• Participate in case conferences to create holistic care plans.
• Lead psychoeducational workshops and support groups on mental health.
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed.
• Maintain confidential client records in compliance with regulations.

Summary Description

The Clinician - Youth ACT plays a pivotal role in providing mobile and community-based mental health services and support to youth in alignment with the Youth ACT program. This position focuses on addressing the unique mental health needs of young individuals, fostering resilience, and promoting overall mental well-being.

The Youth ACT Team serves children/youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) throughout Westchester County, who are returning home from inpatient settings or residential services, at risk of entering such settings, or have not adequately engaged or responded to treatment in more traditional community-based services. Youth ACT team delivers intensive, highly coordinated, individualized services and skilled therapeutic interventions through an integrated, multidisciplinary team approach to better achieve success and maintain the child in the home, school and community.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling services to youth participants of the Youth ACT program in the home and community.
• Collaborate with the Youth ACT Team, school personnel, parents, and external partners to assess and address the mental health needs of youth.
• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to determine treatment goals and intervention strategies.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate therapeutic interventions to support youth in achieving their mental health goals.
• Participate in case conferences and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create holistic care plans for youth participants.
• Facilitate psychoeducational workshops and support groups to enhance mental health awareness and coping skills.
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of youth participants, adjusting interventions as needed.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies and legal/ethical standards.
• Provide 24 hour crisis intervention and support to youth experiencing mental health emergencies on a rotating basis.
• Stay informed about best practices and evidence-based interventions in youth mental health.
• Specialized knowledge and experience in addressing the mental health needs of youth.
• Proficiency in individual and group counseling techniques.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel, parents, and external partners.
• Skill in conducting comprehensive mental health assessments for youth.
• Ability to provide effective crisis intervention and support.

Requirements

• The candidate must hold one of the following New York State licenses: LMSW, LMHC, LCSW, LMFT or limited permit eligible.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and a driving record that is satisfactory to our insurance carrier.
• The Clinician will be using agency vehicles and is responsible for adhering to the Agency Driver Policy.
• Must maintain current New York State Defensive Driving certification.
• Specialized training or experience in youth mental health.
• Previous experience in providing mental health services to youth.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• Due to the nature of the program, must have the ability to be flexible with working hours.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management systems.
• Fluency in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking).
• Must be cleared and maintain clearance by applicable regulatory clearances as required.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

• Hours per week, reporting structure, and location are subject to change per program needs.
