Job summary

The Village in Hartford, CT is seeking a Clinician to provide direct services to children and families in home, office, school or other settings. Unlicensed clinicians receive supervision and may pursue licensure to continue with The Village.

Clinician collaborates with DCF, schools and community providers to implement treatment plans, conduct assessments and maintain clinical documentation in compliance with licensing and funding sources.

Qualifications

• MSW or equivalent required with a minimum of 3 years’ postgraduate clinical experience preferred.
• Clinical degree in social work, psychology, or other licensed-eligible counseling degree.
• LMSW or equivalent required and licensed eligible.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive clinical assessments and engagement.
• Determines DSM V Diagnosis in consultation with Supervisor and Medical Director or designated Psychiatrist.
• Develops treatment plans and contracts for services.
• Implements treatment plans, modifying it as appropriate during treatment.
• Discharge planning, which may include linkages to community support services.
• Provides case management services.
• Completes clinical documentation required by agency and program policies, HIPAA regulations, and funding sources.
• Maintains productivity targets determined by service.

Child FIRST Clinician:

Clinician provides intensive home-based services to children andfamilies. The children served within the Child First program range inage from prenatal to six years old. Services provided includeattachment-based therapy, parenting skills training, crisis support,extensive case management, and advocacy. Child First operates from ateam approach and consists of a Clinician and Family SupportSpecialist, both of whom participate in sessions and treatmentmeetings. The clinician facilitates development and implementation oftreatment plan and collaboratively modifies with client and family asappropriate during term of service. Services provided are incollaboration with DCF, schools, pediatricians, and othercommunity-based providers. Each team member participates in weeklyindividual, team, and group reflective supervision and is responsiblefor maintaining clinical documentation according to licensing,accreditation, Medicaid, and Child First requirements. The purpose ofservices is to facilitate the attachment relationship between thechild and caregiver, improve family functioning overall, and connectthe child and family with community service providers in a positiveway. Consultation and coordination with medical and psychiatricproviders are expected as appropriate to meet families' needs. Staffmust maintain productivity targets determined by the Scope of Serviceand remain current on all model training requirements.

JOB SUMMARY

The Clinician provides direct services to clients in their home,office, school, or other identified setting to meet the unique needsof families served. Unlicensed clinicians are hired prior to obtainingtheir license to practice as mental health practitioners (i.e.,psychology, social work, LMFT, LPC, LADC). Unlicensed clinicians willreceive supervision by a licensed clinician and may be offeredtraining opportunities. When eligible, all unlicensed clinicians areexpected to obtain licensure to be considered for ongoing employmentat The Village.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct services may include, but not limited to:
• Conducts comprehensive clinical assessments and engagement.

• Develops treatment plans and contracts for services.
• Implements treatment plans, modifying it as appropriate during treatment.
• Discharge planning, which may include linkages to communitysupport services.
• Provides case management services.
• Completes clinical documentation required by agency and programpolicies, HIPAA regulations, and funding sources.
• Maintains productivity targets determined by service.
• Participates and presents in Peer Consultation and QualityAssurance Reviews.
• Fosters collaboration with other clinical and administrative staffto respond to client and programmatic needs, including theimplementation of agency policies, procedures, and initiatives.
• Partners with other programs or clinical staff to identify anddevelop approaches to address clients’ unmet needs or service gaps.
• Acquires and maintains the needed skills in evidenced based modelsthat the agency/program ascribes to.

Experience and Skills

EDUCATION

• MSW or equivalent required with a minimum of 3 years’ postgraduate clinical experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE

• Must be able to function independently and be able to seekguidance when necessary.
• Strong diagnostic, assessment and treatment skills for individual,family, and group therapy
• Extensive experience working with culturally diverse urbanpopulations, a wide age range, and a variety of clinicalpresentations; Cultural competency to serve a diverse population.
• Knowledge of behavioral health, child welfare systems, andcommunity resources
• Ability to author professional/clinical reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers oremployees of an organization.
• Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of MentalDisorders (DSM IV)
• Good knowledge of a variety of therapeutic interventions andmodels emphasizing empirically validated interventions
• Skill to maintain a professional, confidential work environment.
