Job summary

Urban Strategies is seeking a Clinician for the Refugio Unaccompanied Children Shelter program in San Benito, TX. The clinician will conduct mental health assessments for UC in care and provide ongoing individual and group counseling.

Qualifications include a Master’s degree in social work or related field, state licensure (LMFT) and experience in trauma-focused counseling; bilingual (English–Spanish) and Office 365 skills are required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, LMFT, Counseling or related behavioral science with clinical experience.
• Two years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience, group and individual counseling.
• Must be state-registered to provide supervised therapy; provide copy to HR.
• Competencies: Diversity, Communication, Time Management; Trauma, Group and Individual Counseling, Sexual Abuse Management; Leadership, Teamwork, Community Approach.
• Bilingual English–Spanish and Office 365 proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Utilize trauma theory and brief therapeutic techniques to work with unaccompanied children entering the United States during a typical stay of 30-35 days.
• Provide individual and group counseling, and screening for human trafficking concerns.
• Conduct mental health assessments of all children admitted to the UC program.
• Provide ongoing individual and crisis intervention.
• Prepare goal-oriented diagnostic assessments, group counseling, staff training and program enrichment.
• Provide guidance to all members of the program staff.
• The Clinician will carry up to 12 cases.
• Upon request, travel with UC, 14 and under, to locations in the United States.
• Other duties as assigned.

General Description

Clinicians conduct mental health assessments for all Unaccompanied Children (UC) in care, as well as provide ongoing individual and group counseling.

• A self-motivated and dedicated person who is excited and passionate about helping infants, toddlers, and families grow in development and in education.
• You are a personable, energetic, and empathetic leader who can manage multiple staff, managers, and multiple projects in a prior project in a prioritized manner to meet our internal Urban Strategies goals of all current Head Start Performance Standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education : Master’s degree in social work, LMFT, Counseling or other relevant behavioral science in which clinical experience is a program requirement.
• Experience : Desired - Two years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience, group and individual counseling and related treatment services.
• Credentials : Must be registered within their state of residence to provide supervised therapy. A copy must be provided to HR.
