Job summary

JFCS of Southern Arizona seeks an experienced therapist to provide outpatient psychotherapy to a diverse client population in Tucson, AZ. We prefer a clinician with an independent Arizona license, but will also consider an associate licensed clinician with at least two years of post-master's clinical experience.

This position will serve a varied caseload that includes children, adolescents, couples, and families. Services are provided in-person and through telehealth when clinically appropriate.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
• Current, unrestricted Arizona behavioral health license at the independent or associate level.
• If associate licensed: at least two years of post-master's experience providing psychotherapy.
• Experience with therapy for children, adolescents, couples, or families, within a diverse caseload.
• Knowledge of mandatory reporting, client rights, confidentiality, and ethics.

Responsibilities

• Provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed psychotherapy to an assigned caseload including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
• Conduct assessments, establish diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Use developmentally appropriate interventions and involve families or caregivers when appropriate.
• Assess and respond to clinical risks and coordinate higher levels of care when indicated.
• Complete documentation within required timeframes and coordinate care with other providers.

For 85 years, Jewish Family & Children's Services of Southern Arizona (JFCS) has strengthened the well-being of children, adults, families, and older adults throughout greater Tucson. We are a nonprofit, nonsectarian behavioral health and social services agency serving people of all backgrounds. POSITION SUMMARY

JFCS is seeking an experienced therapist to provide outpatient psychotherapy to a diverse client population. We prefer a clinician with an independent Arizona license, but will also consider an associate licensed clinician with at least two years of post-master's clinical experience.

This position will serve a varied caseload that includes children, adolescents, couples, and families. Candidates should have experience working with at least one of these populations and be willing to work with the others, with consultation and training as appropriate to their skills and scope of practice.

The therapist provides assessment, diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, psychotherapy, risk assessment, care coordination, and discharge planning. Services are provided in-person and through telehealth when clinically appropriate and permitted by payer requirements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESE

• Provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed psychotherapy to an assigned caseload that may include children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
• Conduct behavioral health assessments, establish diagnoses within your scope of competence, and develop individualized, measurable treatment plans.
• Use developmentally appropriate interventions and involve parents, caregivers, partners, or other supports when clinically appropriate and consistent with confidentiality requirements.
• Assess and respond to clinical risks, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, abuse, neglect, domestic violence, substance use, and other safety concerns. Develop safety plans and coordinate higher levels of care when indicated.
• Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, care coordination notes, and discharge summaries accurately and within required timeframes.
• Monitor client progress, review treatment goals, and adjust interventions or referrals as needs change.
• Coordinate care with medical providers, schools, child welfare agencies, courts, case managers, and community partners when appropriate and authorized.
• Meet agency, payer, ethical, documentation, caseload, and productivity requirements while maintaining high-quality care.
• Participate in supervision or consultation, case review, team meetings, training, and professional development.

• If associate licensed: at least two years of post-master's experience providing psychotherapy.
• Experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, couples, or families, and willingness to serve these populations as part of the assigned caseload.
• Experience with behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy, clinical documentation, and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of mandatory reporting, client rights, confidentiality, and professional ethics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Independent Arizona license, such as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.
• Experience providing couples or family therapy.
• Additional experience or training in child and adolescent therapy, family systems, trauma-focused treatment, parent-child interventions, or play-based treatment.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

SCHEDULE

Work schedules are developed based on client and program needs. Because children, working caregivers, couples, and families may need appointments outside traditional business hours, candidates should be available for some evening and/or occasional Saturday appointments. Specific scheduling expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

If you meet the qualifications and are interested in working with children, adolescents, couples, and families, independent licensure is preferred but is not required.
