Job summary

Naples Comprehensive Health - NCH seeks a Clinical Technician to provide direct patient care under nurse supervision on a 12-hour day schedule at our Naples, FL facility. The role involves assisting with routine patient care, specimen collection, and compatibility with telemetry monitoring as needed.

The candidate will demonstrate competency in glucometer use, POCT, and documentation in the EMR, while maintaining patient safety and timely communication with care partners.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • CNA with Florida licensure or RN student enrolled in nursing program.
  • RN graduate awaiting NCLEX or RN license within four months of program.
  • EMT/Paramedic with Florida license and relevant work experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate a PC.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to perform, assist, reinforce, and deliver patient care.
  • Manage multiple patient care assignments based on acuity and staffing.
  • Receive report from care partner and complete assignments timely.
  • Reinforce appropriate patient care activities under licensed supervision.
  • Respond to patient requests and inform appropriate caregiver as needed.
  • Perform CPR when indicated and maintain annual competency.
  • Document accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Collect, label and deliver specimens to the lab as directed.
  • Assist with restraints when applicable and with patient safety.
  • Transport patients within the hospital as needed.
  • Act as patient sitter or telemetry monitor as required.

Job Summary

The Clinical Technician provides direct patient care under the direction of a nurse and performs other tasks necessary for unit operations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Other duties may be assigned.

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform, assist, reinforce, and deliver patient care.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage a multiple patient care assignment based on unit acuity and staffing levels.
  • Receives report from primary care partner and completes assignments in a timely and organized manner.
  • Instructs and/or reinforces appropriate patient care activities under direction of licensed professional.
  • Responds timely to all patient request and communicates to the appropriate caregiver when necessary.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize and perform emergency measures including CPR when indicated.
  • Demonstrates and maintains annual competency with patient specific procedures.
  • Enters timely and accurate documentation into the electronic medical record.
  • Reports pertinent patient changes and/or clinical findings to primary care partner.
  • Collects, labels, and/or delivers urine, blood, sputum, and stool specimens to the lab, as directed by care partner, utilizing Universal Precautions
  • Provides adjunct care by administering enemas, surgical preps, ice packs, and heat treatments.
  • Provides post-mortem care.
  • Assists in repositioning of immobile patients, with medical equipment.
  • Monitors food and water intake and output
  • Assists with the application of simple dressings, utilizing aseptic technique.
  • Accurately performs glucometer finger stick. Accurately performs POCT and quality control.
  • Assists Clinicians or Public Safety with the application of restraints when applicable in the care of a violent/combative patient.
  • Transport patients to other areas of the hospital as needed.
  • Acts as a patient sitter when one to one observation is required for patient care.
  • Acts as a telemetry monitor technician when required for patient care.
Education, Experience And Qualifications
  • Minimum of High School diploma or GED required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Must satisfy one of the following:
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with the current State of Florida licensure.
  • RN student that has completed nursing fundamentals or caring scholar course and continually be actively enrolled in an RN Nursing program and must provide transcripts every semester.
  • Graduate of an RN program who is pending authorization (receipt of letter) to test for the NCLEX (up to four months from receiving letter to sit for NCLEX) OR has not passed their first NCLEX and is awaiting second test (has another four months from test date to obtain RN license).
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic with current valid Florida Licensure and work experience required.
  • Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data
