Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill is seeking a Clinical Support Technician I for the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. The role is a dual Nursing Assistant I and Health Unit Coordinator, working 36 hours per week on rotating 12-hour shifts (7am-7:30pm or 7pm-7:30am) with weekend/holiday rotation. Orientation is required.

The position supports professional caregivers, transports patients and equipment, maintains patient areas, and performs a broad range of clerical and care duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• Nursing Assistant I certification issued by NC DHHS and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist professional caregivers with routine examinations and procedures and procure equipment and supplies.
• Review patient care documentation and report significant changes to a RN or physician.
• Handle clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, file orders, transcribe and maintain medical records.
• Provide clinical support: clean areas, troubleshoot equipment, transport patients and supplies, orient new staff.
• Provide direct personal care per plan of care: bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation; measure vitals.
• Reinforce patient teaching and distribute education materials.
