Job summary

George Washington University Hospital, a 395-bed academic medical center in downtown Washington, DC, seeks a Charge Nurse to oversee daily clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, and resource utilization. You will deliver high-quality care to diverse patient populations, model our values, provide real-time feedback, and lead department process improvements.

BSN is required; 1 year charge nurse and 2 years nursing experience preferred; specialty certifications and professional

Qualifications

• BSN required; 1 year charge nurse experience preferred.
• 2 years clinical nursing experience preferred.
• Certification in specialty preferred.
• Unit-specific certifications (PALS, ACLS, TNCC, NRP, chemotherapy certification, etc.) preferred.
• Member of professional practice organization pertinent to area of practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides shift to shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, service, and utilization of resources for daily operations. Maintains the environment of care.
• Provides care to patients in a competent, capable, caring and efficient manner. Care provided is appropriate to the age of the patients served.
• Role models organizational values
• Provides real-time feedback to staff to improve performance
• Leads/Participates in department process improvement to improve projects outcomes
