Job summary

CoveCare Center in New York offers a hybrid work environment for a licensed clinical supervisor. The role involves direct supervision of clinical staff, oversight of caseloads, and after-hours coverage to ensure continuity of care.

The supervisor will lead treatment planning, documentation, and adherence to OMH standards while supporting staff development across modalities. Requires MA or MSW and Independent Licensure with NY LCSW/LMHC, plus at least three years in community-based mental health

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of clinical staff with weekly or biweekly supervision documented.
• Monitor staff caseloads and adjust caseloads per OMH standards.
• Provide after-hours on-call coverage as needed.
• Assess, diagnose, and treat diverse populations using current clinical tools and modalities with cultural considerations.
• Deliver individual, family, couples and group therapy; conduct at least 15 sessions weekly.
• Run reports to ensure productivity targets are met.
• Coordinate with referral sources and programs to ensure appropriate care.
• Supervise staff in avoiding personal use of agency technology and manage time efficiently.
• Facilitate referrals and document referral processes for internal and external programs.
• Complete documentation to reflect services, treatment goals, and outcomes; ensure timely progress notes.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with the interdisciplinary team every 3–6 months.
• Ensure safety, risk management, and appropriate handling of appointments.
• Maintain knowledge of hospitalization and committal processes and ensure proper hand-off and documentation.
• Provide cultural, co-occurring disorders, and age-related clinical competency training to staff.

Essential Duties and Clinical Competencies:

• Direct supervision of clinical staff. Weekly or Biweekly supervision will be completed and logged 100% of the time. Provides information regarding different therapy methods and modalities. Supports staff training. Assists staff in coordinating groups. All staff, including new hires after 30 days, will meet their position requirements and expectations.
• Actively monitors clinical staff caseloads and makes necessary changes with the staff. This includes supervising staff on how to increase or decrease caseload, including discharging appropriately and timely as per agency and OMH standards/requirements.
• Provides after-hours on-call coverage.
• Effectively collects social history, assesses, diagnoses, and treats all populations using the most current clinical tools and modalities, as well as including cultural considerations. Reviews staff reports to confirm the appropriate collection of this information.
• Uses current modalities appropriate to the diagnosis, as well as within individual, family, couples, and group therapy. Conduct at least 15 sessions a week.
• Runs reports and assesses whether staff are maintaining the required productivity rate.
• Interacts appropriately with referral sources and collateral contacts with the highest professionalism and customer service standards. Supervises staff to ensure appropriate interactions with other programs and agencies
• Participates actively, avoiding distractions and using time efficiently. This includes not using agency technology for personal purposes and supervising staff to not use agency technology for personal purposes.
• Facilitates appropriate referrals to internal and external programs, as needed, to provide an appropriate level of services. This includes appropriate documentation of referrals and assisting staff with this documentation.
• Completes documentation according to document submission standards of the agency and of OMH. Demonstrates an understanding of the need to provide services in the context of generating income. Demonstrates an understanding that generating income leads to continued agency viability, continued job security, and continued improvement of services for clients. Supervises staff in best practices to complete documentation under these standards.
• Completes progress note documentation effectively to demonstrate the service provided, the purpose of the service, and how the service is related to treatment goals and/or core problems. Progress notes are completed the same day using concurrent documentation. Assists staff in the maintenance of these tasks within various electronic formats.
• Completes individualized treatment plans and reviews collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and in a timely fashion (every 3-6 months) per agency and OMH standards/requirements. The treatment plan and progress notes incorporate core problems and client input and are designed to reduce symptoms and promote recovery. Goals are met and level of care is reviewed and adjusted as appropriate every 3-6 months. 100% of services provided are listed in the active treatment plan. Supervisor reviews staff charts to determine treatment plan compliance.
• Demonstrates resolution of all appointments using sound judgment regarding safety, risk, and liability.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of hospitalization processes and committal processes. Ensures clear hand-off, communication, and documentation. Assists staff with these procedures.
• Demonstrates cultural competency, co-occurring disorders competency, and competency of clinical work with all ages. Provides supervision and training to staff in these areas when needed.

CoveCare Center offers flexible hybrid work, both in our office and satellite locations. We work as a team with collaboration between clinicians, prescribers, care managers, nurses, peers as well as an administrative team available during weekday hours, as well as a billing and scheduling team.
