Clinical Supervisor

Training and Experience

Examination:

Appraisal (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and/or rating of the application.

Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards:

• Possession of a valid licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of California and a bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Possession of a valid licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California, an Associate's Degree in Nursing, and a national certification in an area of expertise.
• Three (3) years (within the last five (5) years) of progressively responsible clinical experience as an RN in an acute care facility at a level equivalent to Hospital Staff Nurse II in the Kern County classification system.
• Possession of a valid licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
• Three (3) years (within the last five (5) years) of progressively responsible experience as an RN at a level equivalent to Hospital Staff Nurse II in the Kern County classification system and one (1) year of nursing experience in a supervisory or lead capacity.
• Option III Mental Health Department: Qualifying experience at a level equivalent to Mental Health Nurse II in the Kern County classification system may be substituted on a year for year basis for experience at a level equivalent to Hospital Staff Nurse II.
• Mental Health Nurse II is equivalent to the current classification of Behavioral Health Nurse III.
• Possession and maintenance of a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
• Dependent upon assignment specific certificates or specialized education in nursing specialty areas may be required.

Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification. Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.

A background check may be conducted for this classification.

Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.

This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
