The Clinical Supervisor directs and manages an effective clinical service delivery team using applicable principles of Social Work and/or Counseling which include – patient psychosocial assessment, group and individual psychotherapy, family intervention, patient/family education and treatment planning. The candidate must have addiction counseling certification in good standing, or an appropriate license.

The Clinical Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Outpatient Services.

FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Participates in the review of clinical issues and development of programs, policies, and procedures in collaboration with Director of Outpatient Services to meet and/or exceed DPH and BSAS licensure requirements.
• Leads the clinical team as a model for cultural responsiveness and affirmative practice with training and targeted supervision as needed.
• Provides clinician induction and training when onboarding.
• Provides regular individual and group supervision to clinicians with consistent documentation.
• Audit and review clinician documentation for completeness, accuracy and quality
• Performs intakes on new clients, completes substance use evaluations, and assigns to appropriate clinician internally
• Oversees IOP program and other clinical programming
• Develops and coordinates training sessions and workshops to enhance clinician treatment skills
• Coordinates and facilitates clinician placements in the community as needed
• Develops internship program with regional graduate programs and participates in training/meetings for placement supervisors.
• Supervises interns in placement.
• Participates in and/or leads staff meetings, team conferences and outpatient team meetings.
• Conducts assessment of each patient’s psychosocial status and functioning to document history and identify preliminary items for the treatment plan.
• Facilitates the overall development and implementation of a comprehensive, individualized plan of treatment in conjunction with other treatment team members.
• Incorporates the patient’s psychosocial functioning and strengths in the plan of care.
• Formulates a treatment plan with the client, using knowledge of behavioral health risk factors and counseling and treatment techniques.
• Provides and/or arranges for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for patients or clients in a crisis.
• Follows up to determine reliability and validity of treatment used; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and services delivery.
• Prepares and maintains reports and case histories.
• Consults with other clinicians and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refers clients to appropriate service agencies as required.
• Maintains current knowledge base on counseling issues regarding behavioral health, substance use treatment and other psychosocial disorders as well as through conferences, educational requirements for licensure, and applicable current literature.
• Participate in supervision as required by state regulations
• Maintain all required professional licensure in accordance with regulatory standards, comply as needed in periodic agency-conducted licensure verification checks to ensure ongoing compliance
• Any other duties assigned by management

Supervisory / Management: Direct supervisory responsibility to clinical staff and clinical interns.

Qualifications and Experience

• An individual who is a LADC I, LMHC, or other independently licensed individual
• Must have at least a master’s degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field: clinical psychology, education‑counseling, medicine, mental health, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, social work;
• Must have two years of supervised substance use disorder counseling experience;
• Must have at least one year full time equivalent year of clinical supervisory experience.
• 5 years minimum experience working in mental health field including substance use treatment.
• CANS certification
• Must be a health care professional possessing academic training and experience in direct patient care
• Experience working with clients and their families across the lifespan (children, adolescent, adults)
• Excellent supervisory, interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to take initiative and problem‑solve quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to represent oneself and the agency in a professional manner.
• Experience with a EHR/EMR.
• Proficient in the use of a computer and corresponding programs such as Excel, Word, Teams, and other web‑based applications. Solid technology skills and flexibility to learn new or changing systems.
• Demonstrable cultural responsiveness, affirmative practice, and awareness of issues of equity and bias in practice
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with leadership teams, clinicians, and community stakeholders.
• Proven ability to lead a positive team with emphasis on continuing growth and professional development.
• Always maintains the highest levels of confidentiality regarding HIPAA & 42 CFR Part II standards.
• Must be able to pass pre‑employment screenings: Adam Walsh/DCF background check, CORI, and drug screen

Environment and Physical Requirements

• This position must by physically present in the clinic to oversee the professional services.
• While the majority of the time will be in a clinic setting, there may be occasional work outside of the clinic, such as in a local school, or in the community
• Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move throughout the clinic

Expected Compensation: $70,000-78,000 Annually

The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future.
