Job summary

The University of Michigan School of Kinesiology, in partnership with the Rogel Cancer Center, seeks a full-time Clinical Study Coordinator to oversee the LETS MOVE trial. The CSC will coordinate participants, manage databases, ensure regulatory compliance, and support reporting and data management.

Initial appointment is 18 months with potential extension. The onsite position at Domino's Farms in Ann Arbor may transition to hybrid work after familiarization with procedures and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health science or a related field (e.g., kinesiology, public health, epidemiology, exercise or health science, health education and health promotion, medicine, psychology) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related research coordination or equivalent experience.
  • Proven organizational, coordination and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative while seeking supervision as appropriate.
  • Formal training or experience in database creation and management or research methods and statistics.
  • Ability to remain at a computer for up to 4 hours to collect, process, or review data.
  • Proven ability to contribute to a positive workplace culture and align with school values.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate research participation, eligibility screening and consent.
  • Schedule and monitor assessments in patient-facing apps.
  • Maintain project databases and tracking using REDCap, Excel, OnCore and Velos.
  • Regulatory duties including IRB and regulatory submissions; produce study reports.
  • Administer data collection instruments online, in-person, or by phone.
  • Collaborate with Rogel Cancer Center care teams and staff.
  • Train study personnel and manage workflow.
  • Assist with literature reviews, references, and manuscript coordination.
  • Support data analysis and data management as needed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Job description

Job Summary

The School of Kinesiology , in partnership with the Rogel Cancer Center, is launching LETS MOVE, a structured exercise program for patients with cancer. The School of Kinesiology (PIs: David Lipps, Erin Giles, Angela Fong, Elizabeth Salerno) is seeking a full-time Clinical Study Coordinator (CSC) to join the team.

In this role, the CSC will provide administrative oversight and study coordination of the LETS MOVE trial. The CSC responsibilities may involve interfacing with study participants and administrative and regulatory oversight of research projects, including, but not limited to, monitoring study progress, ensuring research protocol and regulatory compliance, and producing study reports. The successful candidate will be reliable, conscientious, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities*

Essential Functions are noted with an "EF"

Research coordination and administration tasks (50%)

  • Identify research participants (e.g., Emerse, DataDirect, and MiChart/Epic), determine eligibility, and consent eligible participants
  • Schedule and monitor the delivery of assessments within a patient-facing application (MyDataHelps) (EF)
  • Develop and maintain project databases and participant tracking spreadsheets using REDCap, Excel, OnCore, and Velos. (EF)
  • Regulatory management of research (e.g., IRB applications, eResearch), monitor study progress, and producing regular study reports including NIH progress reports. (EF)
  • Administer data-collection instruments online, in person, or by phone.
  • Coordinates interactions with collaborating cancer care teams in the Rogel Cancer Center, including physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff. (EF)
  • Managing the training of study personnel. (EF)
  • Grant, abstract, and manuscript preparation support such as conducting literature reviews, managing references, and manuscript submission coordination.
  • Assist with data analysis and management as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
  • A bachelor's degree in health science or a related field (e.g., kinesiology, public health, epidemiology, exercise or health science, health education and health promotion, medicine, psychology) or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of related research coordination or equivalent experience is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proven organizational, coordination and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, yet seek supervision, as appropriate.
  • Formal training or experience in database creation and management or research methods and statistics.
  • Ability to remain stationary at a computer for up to 4 hours to collect, process, or review data.
  • Proven ability to contribute to a positive workplace culture and demonstrate the school's core values.
Desired Qualifications*
  • A master's degree in health science or related field with at least 1 year of related research experience.
  • Prior experience with cancer research preferred or prior research coordination responsibilities in academic medical settings.
  • Prior experience working with electronic hospital records (MiChart/Epic) or research coordinator platforms (OnCore, Velos)
  • Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn University of Michigan research-related organizational structure, policies, and procedures.

Additional Information

The position is available immediately and is term-limited, funded for 18 months; the initial appointment may be extended depending on performance and availability of research funds. The salary range is $50,000 to $60,000, commensurate with education and experience. This is an onsite position, located at the School of Kinesiology offices at Domino's Farms (24 Frank Lloyd Wright Drive Ann Arbor, Mi 48106), with the potential to transition to hybrid work after initial familiarization with lab procedures, space, and equipment.
