Job summary

FountainRx Specialty Pharmacy in Morristown, TN is seeking a Clinical Specialty Pharmacist to drive specialty clinical programs and deliver high-quality, patient-centered pharmacy care within the FountainRx Cares model. You will collaborate with the clinical team to develop workflows, monitor outcomes, and ensure safe, effective therapy for specialty patients.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary clinical driver of FountainRx Cares program and lead development of patient care protocols.
• Provide direct patient care and clinical oversight, including therapy monitoring and adherence support.
• Collaborate with leadership to refine clinical workflows, metrics, and quality benchmarks.
• Participate in medication safety, regulatory compliance, and quality initiatives for specialty patients.
• Support medication therapy management and align activities with clinical services or agreements.
• Remain available for staffing duties as needed, without compromising clinical responsibilities.

Description Of Responsibilities

The Clinical Specialty Pharmacist is a performance-based position responsible for driving specialty clinical programs and delivering high-quality, patient-centered pharmacy care. This role works closely with the Director of SP Clinical Pharmacy Services and the broader clinical team to ensure specialty patient care programs optimize outcomes and support the best possible health results. The Clinical Specialty Pharmacist shall have thorough knowledge of and comply with all standing operating procedures, workflow, prescription processing, communications, logistics, and customer service processes at FountainRx.

Responsibilities of the Clinical Specialty Pharmacist include the following

Clinical Practice

• Serve as the primary clinical driver of the FountainRx Cares program and/or equivalent specialty clinical initiatives, leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of patient care protocols designed to optimize specialty pharmacy outcomes.
• Provide direct patient care and clinical oversight within the FountainRx Cares model, including patient assessments, therapy monitoring, adherence support, and proactive clinical interventions across assigned specialty disease states.
• Collaborate with the Director of Specialty Clinical Pharmacy Services and the broader care team to develop and refine clinical program workflows, outcome metrics, and quality benchmarks for specialty patients.
• Participate in medication safety systems, regulatory compliance initiatives, quality management programs, and disease outcomes programs as they relate to the specialty patient population.
• Where applicable to specialty pharmacy practice, support medication therapy management services and align clinical activities with relevant clinical services or collaborative practice agreements.

Education, Training, and Leadership

• Assist in the administrative, educational, and training processes for pharmacists, pharmacy staff, physician relations managers, providers, provider staff, and community partners.
• Support precepting and mentoring of student pharmacists and, where applicable, PGY1 residency program participants assigned to the pharmacy.
• Provide timely performance evaluations for assigned staff.
• Provide positive, results-driven leadership to staff; set clear expectations, build team spirit, and balance assignments to achieve department goals.
• Contribute to a collaborative team culture across departments, including participation in management meetings, reporting, and quality assurance initiatives.
• Participate in continuing education that reflects the current and developing clinical service model and responsibilities.

Staffing and Operations

• Remain available for routine staffing responsibilities as needed across pharmacy departments; staffing duties shall not generally interfere with the clinical responsibilities defined above.
• Other projects, activities, or responsibilities assigned at the discretion of the Director of SP Clinical Pharmacy Services, VP of Operations, or their designee.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited school of pharmacy required.
• Current, unrestricted Tennessee Pharmacist license in good standing required.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a clinical pharmacist required; specialty pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
• Specialty pharmacy residency preferred; other postgraduate residency training with clinical focus considered.
• Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) designation preferred.
• Proficiency in standard business software including word processing, internet, and e‑mail; experience with pharmacy management systems preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
