Job summary

Drexel University in Philadelphia is seeking a per diem Simulated Patient Technician to support Standardized Patients and SP events within the College of Medicine. You will assist with the coordination of SPs and provide technical and organizational support for all SP events, collaborating with faculty and students to enhance learning and assessment activities.

You will operate medical equipment, assist with setup/breakdown, and act as an embedded SP during simulations after training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a standardized patient in a healthcare/professional simulation center.
• Ability to work under pressure, set priorities, and make critical decisions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding job assignments and sensitive issues.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to work with individuals from different disciplines and training levels.
• Basic computer skills applicable to simulation software.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Standardized Patient and Simulation Director to oversee SP-student learning events for seamless execution.
• Operate medical equipment (e.g., otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, BP cuffs, task trainers) and assist with setup/breakdown of student programs.
• Act as an embedded standardized patient in simulations after training.
• Anticipate scheduling, technical, and supply issues and troubleshoot with the Director.
• Provide feedback on clinical skills modules and simulation scenarios as needed.
• Use SimulationIQ to manage and execute simulated patient events.
• Assist in training other SP instructors for selected programs.
