Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe to work alongside physicians, documenting patient work ups and assisting with minor in-office procedures. You will handle chair-side support, ensure accurate EMR entries, and maintain HIPAA compliance.

The role requires a high school diploma (or GED), a valid driver's license, and strong computer typing skills. EMR experience and prior medical scribing are preferred, with entry-level candidates considered.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
• Efficient computer skills and ability to type 40+ words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Bring patients to and from exam rooms.
• Perform detailed documentation of patient work ups and OD/MD comments in patient's electronic medical record.
• Complete patient encounter form based on determined diagnosis.
• Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
• Provide chair-side physician assistance and administer treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.
• Review care instructions with patients.
• Complete a detailed patient history including past medical history, family medical history and chief complaint.
• Check patient's visual acuity including far, near, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
• Examine eyes for abnormalities.
• Perform tests and measurements including A-scans, B-scans, fundus photography, corneal topography, HRTII and pachymetry.
• Measures intraocular pressure (glaucoma test).
• Read eyeglass prescription with automated lensometry.
• Prep exam rooms for treatment.
• Maintain patient confidentiality following HIPAA regulations.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms & ocular medications.
• Stay current with technologies and medications and be able to answer general patient questions.

M-T-W 7:55 am - 5 pm
Th 9 am - 6 pm
F 7:55 am - 4 pm

What you will be doing
