Crossing Hurdles is seeking a Clinical, Microbiome & Translational Research Scientist for a remote contract role. The position offers 10-40 hours per week at an hourly rate of $45–$90.

You will design and evaluate microbiome/metagenomics problems, review AI model outputs, and develop rubrics grounded in primary literature. You will apply expertise in metagenomics, biomarker discovery, and precision medicine, delivering clear explanations and participating in peer review to maintain high quality

Qualifications

• PhD in a life sciences field.
• Hands-on research in academic or industry lab.
• Proficient English (C1+).
• Experience with microbiome tools (QIIME2/ Kraken2/ MetaPhlAn).
• Programming in Python and/or R; familiarity with workflow tools.

• Programming skills in Python and/or R, and familiarity with workflow tools.
