Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Four years of clinical, medical, biotechnology, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines and clinical research regulations.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and EMR.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate study activities from start-up through completion.
  • Schedule and manage participant visits and study procedures.
  • Maintain study supplies, equipment, and investigational product inventories.
  • Screen, enroll, consent, and educate research participants.
  • Monitor participant safety and report adverse events or protocol concerns.
  • Build positive relationships with participants while ensuring an exceptional patient experience.
  • Collect, document, and maintain accurate research data and study records.
  • Ensure compliance with ICH/GCP guidelines, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Serve as a liaison between Mercy Research, sponsors, CROs, physicians, and clinical staff.
  • Assist with training and mentoring research staff and new team members.

The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) is responsible for coordination of research studies conducted by Mercy Research. The Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operational tasks related to clinical trials and performs a variety of duties including, but not limited to: volunteer recruitment, drug/device/supply inventory maintenance, interaction with physicians, nurses, office staff, patients, and clinical monitors. Duties also include the collection, compilation, documentation and analysis of clinical research data while following local, state and federal regulations. The Clinical Research Coordinator will assist in training and preceptor duties. The study load and complexity will increase from the Associate Clinical Research Coordinator responsibility, thereby increasing the overall number of enrollments and visits. The Clinical Research Coordinator will assist with communication and relationship building with sponsors and CROs.

Position Summary

This role manages the day-to-day operations of clinical trials, including patient recruitment, study coordination, data collection, regulatory compliance, and communication with sponsors, physicians, patients, and research staff.

The Clinical Research Coordinator ensures studies are conducted according to protocol, regulatory requirements, and Mercy's Mission, Values, and Service Standards while supporting the advancement of clinical research and patient care.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Trial Coordination
  • Coordinate study activities from start-up through completion.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of assigned protocols and ensure adherence to study requirements.
  • Schedule and manage participant visits and study procedures.
  • Maintain study supplies, equipment, and investigational product inventories.
Patient Recruitment & Care
  • Screen, enroll, consent, and educate research participants.
  • Monitor participant safety and report adverse events or protocol concerns.
  • Build positive relationships with participants while ensuring an exceptional patient experience.
Data Management & Compliance
  • Collect, document, and maintain accurate research data and study records.
  • Complete source documentation and case report forms in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with ICH/GCP guidelines, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Support quality assurance and audit activities.
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Serve as a liaison between Mercy Research, sponsors, CROs, physicians, and clinical staff.
  • Assist with training and mentoring research staff and new team members.
  • Support research recruitment initiatives and community outreach efforts.
  • Attend investigator meetings and study-related trainings as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of clinical, medical, biotechnology, laboratory, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines and clinical research regulations.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Health or Science-related field.
  • Three or more years of clinical research experience.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, twist, reach, and perform repetitive movements as needed.
