Inova Schar Cancer Research in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator 1 – Oncology for a full-time day-shift role Monday – Friday.

The CRC1 will implement studies, ensure human subject protection, support protocol feasibility through study closure, handle study data and documentation under supervision, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or relevant experience.
• 2 years patient care or 1 year clinical research with Bachelor's degree.
• Certified Clinical Research Coordinator preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify protocol elements and perform tasks under direct supervision.
• Explain subject safety including IRB/IEC requirements and event reporting.
• Explain investigational products development process and key regulations.
• Explain and perform study activities in compliance with GCP and related study management.
• Document data according to ALCOA-C principles.
• Explain professional conduct and leadership principles for the investigative site.
• Describe channels for study results and communications to stakeholders.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Inova Schar Cancer Research is looking for a dedicated Clinical Research Coordinator 1 - Oncology to join the Team. This full-time role will be day-shift working Monday – Friday located in Fairfax, VA.

The Clinical Research Coordinator 1 - Oncology implements research studies and ensures research and human subject protection within Inova from site selection to study closure. Coordinates financial aspects of study implementation and management from protocol feasibility through study closure. Develops a basic level of understanding of study coordination and the ability to perform a variety of tasks under direct supervision. Participates in several different types of clinical studies (investigational products, study phases, therapeutic areas and indications).

Clinical Research Coordinator 1 - Oncology Responsibilities:

• Identifies and explains key protocol elements and performs study tasks under direct supervision.
• Explains basic elements of subject safety including the reasoning behind the required use of an Institutional Review Board/Independent Ethics Committee, study activity documentation, and event reporting requirements.
• Explains the investigational products development process and identify key regulations to control these processes.
• Explains and performs study operational activities in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and non-GCP related study management activities.
• Explains how to document data according to ALCOA-C (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, Accurate and Complete) principles.
• Explains the importance of professional conduct and describe leadership principles that impact the effective operation of an investigative site.
• Explains the variety of communication channels, roles and relationship and outlets for study results that impact the conduct of clinical research.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Associate’s Degree or relevant experience in lieu of a degree
• Experience: 2 years of patient care experience or 1 year of clinical research experience with a Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Clinical Research Coordinator preferred.

Experience leading informed consent discussions and enrolling participants in clinical research studies preferred.

Experience developing, implementing, and/or evaluating clinical research protocols and operational workflows preferred.

Experience screening patients for research study eligibility and collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, healthcare providers, research coordinators, and other research staff preferred.

Experience collecting, managing, and verifying research data for accuracy against source documentation preferred.
