Job summary

Women & Infants Hospital is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant to support the acquisition and recording of patient information for research projects involving newborns and families. You will assist in recruitment, administer study questionnaires, and ensure data integrity across multiple study activities.

You will maintain study records, participate in biospecimen collection and data entry, review literature, and help develop research protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, nursing, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience with newborns and/or infants and families.
  • Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Warm, friendly, quick to build rapport with study participants and prior research experience including data collection and entry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform informed consent procedures and assess all study participants.
  • Assist in data collection via infant EKG, Buccal/cheek swab, saliva samples, Cry recorder, and sleep mattress.
  • Document and record research sessions, code sessions, and maintain databases for data, literature, and video files.
  • Track study timelines and contact families to schedule and administer questionnaires and assessments at baseline and follow-ups.
  • Perform medical chart reviews and extract data from health records.
  • Maintain files, procedures, and verification/validation routines.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Clinical Research Assistant is responsible for assisting in the acquisition and recording of patient information for research projects. Assists in the recruitment of study participants. Administers study questionnaires and standardized assessments. Ensures the integrity of study data. Prepares and maintains study records, performs biospecimen collections, and enters data into databases. Reviews relevant literature to gather information and may participate in the development of research protocols. Maintains files, audio archive, procedures, verification and validation routines. Performs chart reviews. Must be willing to work on-call, nights, weekends and holidays, as required. Performs other related duties as requested.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing informed consent procedures and assessment of all study participants.
  • Must participate in training and be able to facilitate/administer data collection via infant EKG, Buccal/cheek swab, saliva sample, Cry recorder, and sleep mattress.
  • Assists in the documenting and recording of research sessions, coding recorded sessions, and maintaining databases for data, literature, and video files.
  • Keeps track of study timeline and appropriately contacts study families to schedule and administer participant questionnaires and assessments at baseline and follow-up time points.
  • Performs medical chart reviews and identifies and extracts data from medical health records.
  • Maintains files, procedures, verification and validation routines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required in the field of psychology, nursing, or related discipline; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience with newborns and/or infants and families.
  • Experience working in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Must be warm and friendly and quick to build rapport with study participants and have previous research experience, including data collection and entry into a computer system.
