Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographs according to physician requests, using an automatic processor and ensuring image quality.

Responsibilities include patient preparation, proper positioning, QA of equipment, maintaining records, and assisting in emergencies. Eligible candidates must have MRT and ARRT credentials and complete education in radiologic technology. Residency in Texas is required.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) by Texas Medical Board (TMB) required.
• Radiography (R) by ARRT required.

• Produces radiographs according to physician requests using an automatic processor.
• Prepares patients and positions them for radiographic procedures.
• Maintains quality assurance on radiology equipment and completes required paperwork.
• Maintains inventory and coordinates room assignments; responds to emergencies as needed.

Position Summary

Produces radiographs of various portions of the body according to physician's request.

Position Key Accountabilities

• Develops radiographs using an automatic processor and checks for desired results.
• Prepares patients films for interpretation by radiologist.
• Maintains quality assurance on all radiological equipment.
• Prepares patient for radiographic procedures.
• Assists in the accurate timing and positioning techniques.
• Maintains and files radiology procedure paperwork.
• Maintains inventory supplies, coordinates student/patient room assignments in clinic.
• Must be able to respond to emergency situations. Other duties as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills

• None
• Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) by Texas Medical Board (TMB) required
• Radiography (R) by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required

Minimum Education: Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) in Radiologic technology required

Minimum Experience: None

Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
