Duty Information

• Duty Location: Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL. No telework allowed.
• Duty Hours: Monday – Friday, 07:30 – 16:00, with 30‑minute unpaid lunch. 40 hrs per week.
• Call‑Back/On‑Call Hours: None.
• Overage Hours: None.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

• Practice within the guidelines of the state licensing board, the American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
• Conduct psychological evaluations using information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources as appropriate.
• Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
• Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
• Assist in rehabilitation of patients.
• Participate in outreach and marketing of the Pre & Post Deployment Health Reassessment (PDHRA) program and services. Liaise with Line Commanders, screen patients, provide treatment where appropriate, educate returning units on the availability of the service, and coordinate follow‑on care.
• Communicate with Line Commanders to inform them about the Deployment Health Clinic benefit, clarify eligibility, and initiate the screening process. Communications occur at the clinic and "in the field" with line units.
• Provide deployment health screening services to all service members either individually or in groups, at the clinic or line unit as required.
• Become proficient with the Navy Environmental Health Center (NEHC) electronic methods for completing Department of Defense (DD) Forms. All contractor health‑care workers shall use Standard Form (SF) 600 and SF 513 as primary documentation forms.
• Provide care for eligible patients resulting from the DHCC screening in accordance with the Deployment Health Clinical Center guidelines located at pdhealth.mil. Emphasis on treatment of mental health issues including post‑traumatic stress disorders and other combat‑related psychological symptoms. Family member care related to deployment may be included in the active‑duty member’s scheduled sessions.
• Participate in educational sessions/briefings for returning units on deployment‑related illnesses/conditions and the realities of readjusting to life following deployment.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree/Education: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA‑accredited program. Must have completed an APA‑accredited internship/residency in professional psychology.
• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of full‑time experience within the last three (3) years working with a patient population with Post‑Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
• Licensure/Registration: Active, valid, unrestricted current license to practice psychology in any of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands.
• Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Web‑based (online) classes are not acceptable by the Government.
• Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: Must be a U.S. citizen.
• References: Three (3) letters of recommendation from practicing physicians or peers attesting to clinical skills. Letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address, and signature. Written within the preceding two (2) years.
