Job summary

CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL seeks an experienced nursing education leader to develop and coordinate growth programs for nursing staff and students. The role leads curriculum development, clinical partnerships, and program governance aligned with Pathways to Excellence and ANCC standards.

The position requires IL RN licensure, leadership experience, and a focus on evidence-based practice. Strong teaching and presentation skills are essential for ongoing staff development.

Qualifications

  • Current Illinois RN license required.
  • Minimum three years of nursing management/leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in teaching, coaching and presentation skills strongly preferred.
  • Board certification in a nursing specialty, preferred.
  • Computer literacy including operation and software application use preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operational, personnel and financial management of the Clinical Professional Department.
  • Develop program curriculum and coursework for the CNA program.
  • Determine format and requirements including materials and technology and provide continuous updates to the curriculum as needed.
  • Responsible for creation and sustainment of relationships with other healthcare education programs/universities and coordination of CGH as a clinical site.
  • Oversight of instruction, assessment, improvement and evaluation of courses/programs to meet needs of student, organization and governing bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and accreditation standards; support evidence-based nursing practice initiatives.

Position Purpose

Responsible for the development, coordination, continuous improvement and ongoing administration of the nursing and healthcare professional growth and programs at CGH Medical Center. Provide leadership and counsel to staff and students, monitor trends in nursing education, adhere to federal and state regulations, maintain accreditation standards and maintain strategic partnerships that ensure the success of the program.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee the operational, personnel and financial management of the Clinical Professional Department.
  • Develop program curriculum and coursework for the CNA program.
  • Determine format and requirements including materials and technology and provide continuous updates to the curriculum as needed.
  • Responsible for creation and sustainment of relationships with other healthcare education programs/universities and coordination of CGH as a clinical site.
  • Responsible for the oversight of instruction, assessment, improvement and evaluation of courses/programs to ensure needs of student, organization and governing bodies are met.
  • Maintain knowledge of professional knowledge, related laws, regulations and requirements for the programs, students, staff and organization to ensure compliance with all necessary entities.
  • Champion the mission and vision of nursing and our organization with the planning, development and management of the programs.
  • Understands the role of professional nursing practice and possess the ability to educate, disseminate knowledge and motivate staff to integrated evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Provide assistance and insight to other leaders in the planning, integration, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Primarily responsible for ensuring that the CGH division of nursing exemplifies the philosophy and standards of Pathways to Excellence and ANCC standards, including responsibility and oversight of the Shared Governance Committees.
  • Works closely with various departments to integrate and align priorities that impact nursing practice.
Specialized Knowledge & Requirements
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse License required.
  • Minimum three years of nursing management/leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in teaching, coaching and presentation skills strongly preferred.
  • Board certification in a nursing specialty, preferred.
  • Computer literacy including operation and software application use preferred.
Compensation Range

$97,760.00 - $146,640.00
