Job summary

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is seeking a licensed pharmacist to provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services and participate in Medication Therapy Services protocols that support clinical intervention and medication optimization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required; Doctorate preferred.
  • Licensed pharmacist in Missouri.
  • Experience in inpatient hospital pharmacy is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages workflow of technicians, interns and volunteers.
  • Participates in Medication Therapy Services and drug information activities.
  • Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness and safety considering patient condition.
  • Counsels patients and supports transitions of care.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal and State regulations in the medication-use process.

Overview
Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital

proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center.

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation.

At Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, every decision is made in the best interest of patients and families. The inpatient pharmacy team provides pharmacy services to all areas of the hospital.

Preferred Qualifications
Role PurposeAssess, monitor, initiate and modify medication use according to patient condition and age specific criteria. Ensure prompt and accurate medication preparation and dispensing. Prevent, direct and resolve medication-related issues. Supervise and direct supportive personnel. Counsel and educate to promote optimal drug therapy. Direct and assist in the procurement, storage, distribution and disposal of medications.
ResponsibilitiesDirects and manages workflow including oversight of technicians, interns and volunteers ensuring the accuracy of their work in accordance with departmental procedures and Federal and State regulations.Participates in departmental meetings and on committees at the health service organization, as appropriate.Serves as medication therapy resource for activities such as drug information, training of staff, transitions of care and Medication Therapy Services.Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness with regard to patient condition, organ function and concomitant therapies to promote optimal patient outcomes. Documents all activities and communication as appropriate.Recognize opportunities and offer solutions to maximize efficiency and promote safety within the medication use process.Minimum RequirementsEducation~ Bachelor's Degree
