Job summary

Job description

Job Overview

Ensures safe, appropriate, and economical use of drugs through the application of specialized skills and knowledge in pediatric patient care.

Hours per week: 36, eligible for benefits. Shift: Overnight (Wednesday - Tuesday), 10-hour shifts, 2030-0630 (7-nights on, 7-nights off). This position is eligible for night and weekend differentials.

Relocation assistance available for qualified external applicants.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides drug information services by responding to questions regarding medication compatibilities, adverse drug events, regimens, dosing, interactions, storage and disposal, compounding, therapeutic uses of medications and pharmaceutical supplies in a timely manner; using a systematic approach to effectively searching, retrieving, and evaluating the literature and appropriately communicating and applying the information to the patient care situation; and assisting with the development, maintenance, and implementation of hospital and department policy and procedures related to medication use, storage, restrictions, and administration.
  • Sustains and implements quality and safety initiatives and practices in the department and throughout the hospital. Reports adverse drug events and medication variances using the hospital variance reporting program (QSRS).
  • Sustains clinical pharmacy services throughout the organization by providing pharmaceutical care for pediatric patients of all age ranges through participation in multi‑disciplinary team rounds and/or care, emergency response, education, guidance, interpretation and analysis of medication related therapeutic issues; documenting pharmaceutical interventions according to departmental standards; performing therapeutic drug monitoring and disease outcome analysis; and timely verification of medication orders in an electronic health record system.
  • Participate in general pharmacy operations throughout the organization through appropriate medication preparation, dispensing, and inventory control. Provides oversight to pharmacy technicians, interns, residents, and students as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree.
  • Experience: Completion of one year pharmacy residency.
  • Equivalency: One year of pharmacy work experience accepted in lieu of residency.
  • Certification(s): BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute accepted).
  • Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Pharmacist license.
Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $121,394.93 to $182,092.39
