Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a licensed pharmacist to support medication order processing and drug information services within established policies.

The role requires a PharmD and DC pharmacist license, at least 1 year of pharmacy experience, and the ability to supervise technicians, discuss drug therapies, and ensure safe, accurate compounding and distribution.

Responsibilities

• Interpret medication orders, profile orders and oversee the packaging, labeling and distribution of medications.
• Perform drug therapy monitoring and intervene as necessary on drug dosing, drug administration, drug interactions, side-effects and monitoring issues; complete therapeutic drug monitoring consults and adverse drug reaction reports as assigned.
• Provide accurate and timely drug information to physicians, nurses and other health professionals.
• Interpret research medication orders, ensure accurate preparation of investigational drugs and maintain complete and accurate records.
• Must maintain proficiencies in medication handling (including hazardous medications), compounding sterile/non-sterile preparation(s) and completing quality assurance checks per standard operating procedures and policies in compliance with USP <795>, <797> and <800> guidelines.
• Oversee the work of Pharmacy Technicians by directing and assisting as necessary to ensure rapid medication order turn-around time.
• Assist with the education, training and general supervision of Pharmacy Residents, Students and Technicians.
