Job summary

Kennedy University Hospitals, Inc. seeks a Clinical Pharmacist to oversee the medication distribution system and ensure each medication is indicated, effective, safe, and convenient for patients.

The role involves preventing and resolving drug therapy problems, monitoring patient responses, and promoting formulary compliance within hospital policies, while training residents, interns, technicians, and student pharmacists.

Qualifications

• Doctorate Doctor of Pharmacy or RPH as required.
• Knowledge of pharmacokinetic principles for dosing.

• Identify and document sentinel events and medication errors in the system.

• Assures the appropriateness of drug therapy and compliance with hospital policies
• Oversees the distribution of medications throughout TJUH
• Supports implementation of processes to assure the quality of Pharmacy services
• Trains staff as assigned (e.g., residents, interns, technicians, new pharmacists)
• Precepts student pharmacists as assigned. See Preceptor Development & Evaluation Program policy.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctorate Doctor of Pharmacy or RPH (see below under experience)
• Knowledge of pharmacokinetic principles required for medication dosing
• Monitor patients for response to medications
• Identify and document sentinel/serious events, near misses, medication errors and adversedrug reactions in the electronic reporting system
• Promote and assure compliance with the hospital formulary and policies and procedures defined by the P & T Committee.
• Provide care that is appropriate to the chronological age, developmental age, social maturity,and cultural background of the patient
• RP - Registered Pharmacist - State of Pennsylvania

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year PGY1 Pharmacy Residency preferred
• Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook skills

Certification required based on primary work location.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
