Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking a licensed pharmacist to join UHealth and support dispensing, labeling, and packaging of medications in compliance with policies and legal requirements. You will calculate dosages, assess medication identity and strength, and review prescriptions for accuracy and safety.

Responsibilities include advising customers on drug interactions and storage, maintaining accurate records, and supporting inventory and controlled substances control.

Qualifications

  • Pharm.D. degree required.
  • Certification in relevant specialty or field required.

Job description

Implements and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policies and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal. Compounds and dispenses medications, as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. Calculates the volume of medication required to produce the desired results to ensure proper dosages. Assesses the identity, strength, and purity of medications. Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy, ascertain the needed ingredients, and evaluate suitability. Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage. Analyzes prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent inappropriate usage or harmful interactions. Maintains records, such as pharmacy and system files, patient profiles, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries for poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs. Advises customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Pharm.D. degree

Certification and Licensing:

Certification in relevant specialty or field
