Job summary

Cancer Care Northwest in the Inland Northwest is seeking a pharmacist to provide comprehensive oncology pharmaceutical care in relation to cancer diagnoses and prescribed treatment. You will evaluate chemotherapy plans, verify orders, supervise technicians for sterile products, and support protocol development to maximize patient safety.

Requires WA licensure (or ability to obtain), 2+ years in pharmacy practice or PGY-1 residency. Oncology experience and Epic EHR familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science Pharmacy degree from an accredited school.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the State of Washington or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in pharmacy practice OR completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy residency.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate chemotherapy and infusion treatment plans for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Verify medication orders by assessing diagnosis, dosing, drug interactions, allergies, labs, toxicity, and drug-specific monitoring parameters.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians in the preparation of hazardous and non-hazardous sterile products.
  • Recommend therapy modifications to providers to maximize benefits and minimize toxicity.
  • Participate in developing pharmacist-driven protocols and drug utilization.
  • Serve as a drug information resource to other healthcare professionals and educate on new therapies.
  • Product verification of medications dispensed through our specialty pharmacy.
  • Assist the research department with review of new investigational drug trials.
  • Analyze drug shortages and inventory needs.
  • Develop, review, and assist with implementation of drug protocols and regimen builds.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulatory bodies for physician-based oncology outpatient clinics.
  • Pursue continuing education and maintain an active pharmacist license.

Position Overview:

Provides quality patient care in relation to the patient's oncologic diagnosis, prescribed treatment, age group, and other identified needs. Provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care to oncology patients to assure safe and effective drug therapy. Requires independent decision-making, clinical judgment, and an in-depth knowledge of oncology and therapeutics. Supports and adheres to the Cancer Care Northwest Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians in the preparation of hazardous and non-hazardous sterile products
  • Recommend therapy modifications to providers as clinically necessary to maximize therapeutic benefits and minimize toxicity.
  • Participate in developing pharmacist-driven protocols (e.g. carboplatin dosing, dose rounding, etc.)
  • Serve as a drug information resource to other healthcare professionals, including educating on new therapies.
  • Product verification of medications dispensed through our specialty pharmacy.
  • Assist the research department with the review, evaluation, and roll out of new investigational drug trials
  • Analyze drug shortages and inventory needs.
  • Develop, review, and assist with implementation of drug protocols and regimen builds.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulatory bodies as it pertains to physician-based oncology outpatient clinics.
  • Responsible forprofessional development, including meeting all requirements for continuingeducation, keeping abreast of current professional literature, and maintaining a pharmacist licensure in good standing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current pharmacist licensure in the State of Washington or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in pharmacy practice OR completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy residency. Oncology experience prefered but not required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Pharmacy Specialty Board Certification (BCOP or BCPS)
  • PGY-2 in oncology
  • Experience with Epic EHR
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly: sit, grasp, reach, bend, stoop/crouch, talk, and hear
  • Occasionally: stand, walk, lift up to 30 pounds, pull/push up to 30 pounds, carry up to 30 pounds
  • Vision: clearly see up to 5 feet with or without corrective lenses
Work Environment:

While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee will not be exposed to any workplace environmental conditions caused by extreme noise, heat, cold, workplace hazards, atmospheric dust/fumes/vapors/mists, pathogens, or toxic chemicals

Salary DOE – $140,000-$204,153
