Job summary

AdventHealth in Sebring, FL is seeking a pharmacist to educate patients and care teams on safe medication use, and to optimize therapy across central and satellite pharmacies. The role covers direct patient care, supervision, and participation in interdisciplinary rounds.

The position requires a PharmD, Florida licensure, and hospital experience; a Doctorate is preferred. Comprehensive benefits and a Day-One schedule are offered with a day shift.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Doctorate preferred.
• License required: Licensed Pharmacist (RPH).
• 1+ hospital experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team on safe medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, cost-effective medication therapy and participate in stewardship.
• Engage in direct patient care and rounds; ensure transitions of care.
• Supervise and develop pharmacy staff and students.
• Identify and report medication safety events and errors.
• Demonstrate proficiency with EHRs, pharmacy informatics, and automation.
• Contribute to practice advancement through research or specialty alignment.
• Perform all pharmacist functions across central, satellite, and IV areas.
• Review orders and monitor patient profiles to prevent drug-related problems.
• Complete pharmacist consults and pharmacokinetic dosing adjustments.
• Participate in quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and accreditation efforts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team members on safe and effective medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective medication therapy; actively participate in stewardship, surveillance, and restricted-use programs.
• Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring smooth transitions of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and residents; support team learning and development.
• Identify, report, and help resolve medication safety events, adverse drug reactions, and errors.
• Demonstrate proficiency with EHRs, pharmacy informatics systems, and medication automation to optimize clinical decision support and documentation.
• Contribute to professional advancement through practice innovation, research, specialty alignment (e.g., critical care, oncology, infectious disease), committee participation, and scholarly activity.
• Perform all pharmacist functions including compounding, dispensing, verification, and documentation of medications across central, satellite, and IV areas.
• Review and monitor medication orders and patient profiles to prevent, identify, and resolve drug-related problems; complete pharmacist consults and perform pharmacokinetic dosing, monitoring, and adjustments.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities; track performance metrics (e.g., interventions, error reduction, cost savings).
