Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Pharmacy Direct Staff Pharmacist to ensure quality and safety in dispensing medications for patients. You will counsel patients, monitor compliance, and support chronic disease management as part of an interdisciplinary team across clinical, production, and retail settings.

You will supervise technicians, maintain supplies, and participate in system-wide programs and staff training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• PharmD preferred.
• License Massachusetts Pharmacist required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic understanding of insurance and adjudication processes.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).

Responsibilities

• Fills prescriptions, resolves discrepancies in patient therapy, and follows-up on problems.
• Evaluates physician orders to ensure appropriate therapy.
• Provides and documents drug information and patient counseling.
• Documents interventions, ADRs, and medication errors.
• Directs staff including technicians and clerical staff.
• Maintains adequate medication supply.
• Participates in staff in-services and meetings.
• Operates automated dispensing systems.
• Advises on alternatives for non-formulary drugs.
• Uses outpatient/inpatient systems to access patient care information.
• Participates in quality management programs.
• May coordinate small projects or training.
• May assist in development and training curricula.
• Participate in orientation of new staff and interns.
