Job summary

University of Southern California seeks a Pharmacist to verify orders in Cerner, supervise daily pharmacy operations, and mentor technicians. The role emphasizes patient safety, policy compliance, and collaboration with physicians and nurses.

You will participate in continuous quality improvement, advise on therapy optimization, and contribute to education for staff and residents, while maintaining high standards of pharmaceutical care.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. from an accredited school.
• Hospital or ambulatory care experience or completion of a residency.
• Excellent organization, analytical, planning and evaluation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Registered Pharmacist (CA DCA) with California State Board of Pharmacy.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) or ability to obtain within required time.

Responsibilities

• Verify medication orders accurately and timely via Cerner.
• Evaluate patient profile for appropriateness of orders (dosage, interactions, cost).
• Verify all medications dispensed for accuracy.
• Oversee daily pharmacy operations and ensure sterile compounding compliance.
• Oversee narcotic dispensing, reconciliation and discrepancy resolution.
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies and applicable laws.
• Mentor and train pharmacy technicians and interns.
• Participate in CQI and clinical programs; document interventions.
• Precept and educate pharmacy staff and students.
