Job summary

Billings Clinic in Billings, MT is seeking an inpatient Clinical Pharmacist to contribute to high-quality pharmaceutical services within a Magnet-designated environment. You’ll participate in day-to-day patient care, review orders, supervise sterile and non-sterile preparations, and support drug safety and cost-effective therapy under supervision of a registered pharmacist.

Qualifications include a BS in Pharmacy with advanced clinical training; PharmC preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with advanced clinical training.
• PharmC preferred as an advanced degree.
• Experience in inpatient or hospital pharmacy settings is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Participates in day-to-day clinical patient care as appropriate for the practice area.
• Reviews and interprets provider orders to ensure appropriate medication use and clarifies orders with providers.
• Prepares sterile and non-sterile products under supervision of a registered pharmacist.
• Controls distribution of controlled substances and investigational drugs as required.
• Trains/mentors pharmacy staff and documents clinical work and consults in records.
• Acts as a drug information resource to medical staff, patients, and families.

Shift: VariesEmployment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater) Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours every two weeks (Exempt) Starting Wage DOE: $0.00 - 0.00The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and delivery of high quality pharmaceutical services. Work of the graduate pharmacist is conducted under the review and supervision of the registered pharmacist.

Essential Job Functions

• Participates in day-to-day clinical patient care as appropriate for practice area
• Reviews and interprets provider orders to ensure appropriate medication use. Contacts provider to clarify any questionable order.
• Carefully checks all data entry, medication carts, and ADM fills for accuracy as appropriate.
• Accurately and safely, prepares or supervises the preparation of all sterile (e.g., IV admixtures) and non-sterile products.
• Controls the distribution of controlled substances, dangerous drugs, and investigational drugs as required by state and federal regulations.
• Assists in the training and orientation of new employees, students, and residents. Provides assistance, direction, and clinical supervision of the pharmacy technical staff as appropriate for practice area.
• Document in the medical record (and other applications) and is accountable for all clinical pharmacy work including:
• Monitoring drugs, disease states, and clinical pathways and interacts with providers to optimize drug therapy; writes consults in progress notes
• Recommends therapeutic alternatives to providers to increase therapeutic efficiency and reduce cost
• Document consults in designated patient chart or medical record
• Acts as a drug information resource to medical staff, other professionals, patients, and their families.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with advanced clinical training.
• Preferred Graduate Degree PharmC
