Intermountain Health St Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings, Montana invites you to join our inpatient pharmacy team. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other professionals to ensure safe, timely medication therapy across our 286-bed hospital.

Pharmacists rotate through Pediatrics, NICU, ICU, OR, and ED, participate in clinical decision-making, and support evidence-based therapies. This role offers a 4x10 schedule, weekend/holiday rotation, and a $10,000 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or B.S. in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • License to practice pharmacy in the applicable state and dispense controlled substances.
  • Current knowledge of state and federal regulations governing pharmacy practice.
  • Effective communication, people management, and project management skills.
  • Immunization certification if required by practice site.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patients' medication orders for allergies, duplications, and drug interactions, with evidence-based interventions.
  • Ensures medications are prepared and delivered timely to care areas and stored securely.
  • Counsels patients and promotes medication education and adherence.
  • Completes regulatory training and complies with state and federal laws and pharmacy SOPs.
  • Supervises interns, technicians, and support staff and provides clinical consultation.
  • Solves problems related to equipment, maintenance, drug availability, and staffing.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.

Working alongside physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, you'll play a key role in ensuring safe, timely, and effective medication therapy across our 286-bed regional hospital.


St. Vincent's decentralized inpatient pharmacy model places pharmacists directly within patient care areas, providing meaningful collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and direct involvement in clinical decision-making. Pharmacists rotate through Pediatrics, NICU, ICU, Operating Room, and Emergency Department settings while supporting safe, effective, and evidence-based medication therapy.


Intermountain Health St. Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings, Montana, is a 286-bed hospital delivering compassionate, quality care to the people of Montana and Northern Wyoming, as it has for more than 125 years. In addition to 30 regional clinics, we offer a number of progressive specialty services. Essential Functions


  • Reviews patients' medication order for allergy interactions, duplication of therapy, appropriateness of drug therapy, and drug- drug interaction. Makes appropriate evidence-based interventions to optimize medication use. Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective therapies and accurately dispenses medications.

  • Oversees and/or participates in assuring appropriate medications are prepared and delivered timely to care areas and are stored both securely and appropriate for both stability and effective workflow.

  • Provides counseling to patients and promotes quality medication education and adherence. Ensures patient is well informed, treated with respect, and receives the highest level of professional service.

  • Completes all regulatory and compliance training and ensures documentation of regulatory requirements is clear and complete. Is knowledgeable and compliant with state and federal laws, regulations, pharmacy policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.

  • Supervises and directs activities of interns, technicians, and support personnel as required. Provides medication related clinical consultation and clarification to other health professionals.

  • Takes the initiative to solve problems including, but not limited to, equipment, maintenance, drug availability, staffing issues, and extraordinary patient care concerns.

  • Identifies potential areas for improvement including processes that could be streamlined or revised to improve patient satisfaction. Identifies potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff and takes appropriate actions. Participates in departmental meetings, contributing ideas or feedback

  • Supports clinic or hospital and system directives, including clinical, compliance, business operations, standardization, and customer service.

  • Supports local and enterprise pharmacy leadership initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum


  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution (education verified).

  • License to practice pharmacy in the state of practice and dispense controlled substances

  • Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy in the state of practice.

  • Effective communication, people management, and project management skills.

  • Immunization certification if applicable to practice site needs


Preferred


  • Previous experience working in an integrated healthcare delivery system

  • Board Certification

  • Health System Residency


Physical Requirements


  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.

  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
