Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a pharmacist to provide inpatient clinical coverage across central, satellite, and IV areas. The role emphasizes education, patient care, and collaboration with the healthcare team to optimize medication use and outcomes.

This position requires PharmD (or active license) and hospital experience; duties include supervision, drug therapy management, and quality improvement participation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required.
• PharmD preferred.
• 1+ hospital experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team on safe medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective medication therapy; participate in stewardship and surveillance.
• Engage in direct patient care and rounds; support smooth transitions of care from admission to discharge.
• Supervise and mentor technicians, interns, students, and residents; promote learning and development.
• Identify and help resolve medication safety events and ADRs; document issues and actions.

Job Description:

Relocation Bonus $1500 to eligible candidates

Schedule: 50/50 days and evening shifts (between 0700-2130), every 4th weekend.

Rotate to provide clinical coverage of inpatient clinical pharmacy areas.

Primary coverage arears of ICU, Emergency Department, and Cardiology.

• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team members on safe and effective medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective medication therapy; actively participate in stewardship, surveillance, and restricted-use programs.
• Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring smooth transitions of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and residents; support team learning and development.
• Identify, report, and help resolve medication safety events, adverse drug reactions, and errors.
• Demonstrate proficiency with EHRs, pharmacy informatics systems, and medication automation to optimize clinical decision support and documentation.
• Contribute to professional advancement through practice innovation, research, specialty alignment (e.g., critical care, oncology, infectious disease), committee participation, and scholarly activity.
• Perform all pharmacist functions including compounding, dispensing, verification, and documentation of medications across central, satellite, and IV areas.
• Review and monitor medication orders and patient profiles to prevent, identify, and resolve drug-related problems; complete pharmacist consults and perform pharmacokinetic dosing, monitoring, and adjustments.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities; track performance metrics (e.g., interventions, error reduction, cost savings).
