HCA Florida West Marion Hospital is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to ensure safe, accurate medication distribution for patients of all ages and to supervise technical staff. The role involves compliance with laws and hospital policies and may require work at multiple affiliated facilities.

Job Summary And Qualifications
Responsible for the safe, accurate and rational distribution of pharmaceutical agents to patients of all ages, employees and designated areas of the hospital, as well as the supervision of technical staff. This shall be carried out in accordance with all state/federal laws, TJC standards, and hospital/department policies and procedures. The general clinical pharmacist is responsible for providing general clinical and pharmacy services. May be required to work at Ocala Regional Medical Center, West Marion Community Hospital, and/or The Free Standing Emergency Departments as needed.
Departmental Responsibilities
Accurately compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals.
Interpret orders and transcribes or verifies them accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system.
Complies with facility policy and regulatory requirements.
Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic medication alternatives to the medical staff.
Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug- food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose.
Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing nonformulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges and promotes rational drug therapy selection.
Assist with clinical services such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV-PO, renal dosing and other programs as defined by pharmacy leadership.
Follows all federal laws, state laws, and hospital and department policies and procedures.
Maintain professional competency sufficient to meet current and future of the facility.
Prioritizes technical work for technical staff when needed.
Informs Director or Assistant Director of performance or discipline issues of pharmacy staff as appropriate.
Provides continual guidance to technical staff as it applied to performance of pharmacy services.
Interacts appropriately with physicians, nurses, and other professionals in regard to appropriate drug therapy.
Support and participate in the goals of the organization’s Quality improvement, risk management and patient safety program to include but not limited to National Patient Safety Goals, Core Measures and HCAHPS medication related initiatives.
Participates in the training of new pharmacists, pharmacy students, and pharmacy technicians.
Complete notification reports regarding medication errors and adverse drug reactions.
Train and participate with emergency drills and real event response as assigned.
