Job summary

Novant Health in Mount Pleasant, TN is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner to join a 10-pharmacist team in a 140-bed community hospital. The role offers leadership in medication safety and patient care across lifespan.

You will perform comprehensive clinical pharmacy services, review therapies, monitor patients, verify orders, and educate patients, while supporting protocol development and cost-saving initiatives.

PRN scheduling provides flexibility to align with department needs.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree required and licensure in appropriate state or eligible within start date.
• Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of health-system pharmacist experience.
• Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification preferred.
• Ability to travel to multiple facilities and work with a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical pharmacy leader, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and medication safety.
• Provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services, including medication review, therapy monitoring, patient assessment, order verification, and patient education.
• Promote safe, evidence-based medication use while ensuring compliance with formulary, regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
• Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, medication use evaluations, process improvement projects, and cost-savings strategies.
• Support development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical protocols, order sets, policies, and drug shortage management plans.
• Educate, mentor, and precept pharmacists, residents, students, and other healthcare professionals while supporting onboarding and competency development.
• Supervise pharmacy workflow, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of pharmacy services.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive team environment through effective communication, leadership, and professional development.
• Participate in pharmacy committees, interdisciplinary meetings, and organizational initiatives as assigned.
• For CPPs: provide direct patient care and medication therapy management within the approved scope of practice.

What We're Looking For

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) Certification. PharmD, preferred.


• Experience: Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy, preferred.


• Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required. Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification, preferred.


• Additional Skills (required): Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
