Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is hiring a Clinical Pharmacist to help doctors and nurses safely prescribe and dispense medications. You will review every prescription in queue, check for interactions, dosing, allergies, and unusual orders, and ensure final safety checks with the clinician.

You should enjoy real-time research, learn continuously, and strive to deliver exceptional patient care. You will document clinical activities and support a high standard of service across all patient age groups.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy.
• Licensed Pharmacist in Nevada (NV) is expected.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review prescriptions for interactions, dosing, allergies and appropriateness.
• Enter/verify orders into the computer system and ensure timely dispensing.
• Verify medications prepared by others and communicate drug information to patients and providers.
• Clarify unclear orders with the prescribing clinician to ensure safe therapy.
• Provide clinical services across age groups and maintain knowledge of automated systems.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Clinical Pharmacist, you’ll help our doctors and nurses safely prescribe and dispense medications to help our patients feel better and recover from their illness or injury.

Every day, you’ll build trust in these interactions by reviewing every prescription in your queue. We never rely entirely on the computer to check for safety; we always use an expert for the final check. That’s you. You’ll review prescriptions for potential drug interactions, correct dosing, patient allergies or anything that looks unusual in your opinion.

To excel in this role, you must enjoy learning new concepts and researching information in real-time to provide solutions for our patients. You should also continually look for ways to go above and beyond for your patients, delivering an exceptional experience along with exceptional care.

• Demonstrates ability to document clinical activities and interventions such as consults, patient teachings and other patient specific information as defined by policy and procedure.
• Interprets medication orders and/or prescriptions for drug interactions, appropriate drug selection and appropriateness. Accurately enters / verifies the order or prescription into the computer system, labels, and dispenses medications in a timely manner.
• Verifies and checks medications prepared by other pharmacy personnel.
• Communicates drug information to patients and health professionals. Resolves drug related problems by consulting with other health care professionals to achieve appropriate patient outcomes. Unclear orders written by a licensed provider are clarified with the licensed provider. Assists the licensed provider in appropriate drug selection and therapeutic regimens.
• Achieves and maintains an adequate basic knowledge base to provide clinical services for all age groups served. Provides basic clinical services as required by policy and procedure.
• Maintains a working knowledge of automated systems.

• Bachelor of Science Pharmacy, or Doctor of Pharmacy Pharmacy
• Pharmacist: Nevavda
• BLS - American Heart Association

Preferred:

• ACLS - American Heart Association
