The Specialty Clinical Pharmacist at Medical University of South Carolina provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the outpatients and visitors of the Medical University Hospital and Clinics in Charleston. Qualifications

  • Two years of clinical or hospital pharmacy experience may substitute for the clinical pharmacy residency program.
  • Eligibility for licensure as a Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required (AHA or ARC equivalent).

The Specialty Clinical Pharmacist provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the outpatients and visitors of the Medical University Hospital and Clinics. Additional responsibilities include addressing the needs of nursing and medical personnel regarding drug disposition and usage; counsels patients and health care professionals by providing general and patient specific drug information; ensures timely and medically appropriate dispensing. The Clinical Pharmacist participates in the patient management and quality programs of the Specialty Pharmacy.

Minimum Training and Education

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
