Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience as a Certified Clinical Orthoptist.
• Ability to perform infant vision assessments using Preferential Looking Test and to perform manifest and cycloplegic refraction in children.

• Provides orthoptic treatment within NH and VT scope, including strabismus evaluations and infant vision assessments.
• Performs and interprets pediatric and adult screening examinations for physician review.
• Documents chief complaint and history of present illness, medications and allergies, and pertinent ocular history.
• Performs various tests including visual acuity, retinoscopy, refraction, color vision testing, tonometry, and confrontation fields.
• Performs strabismus evaluations including sensor and motor testing and orthoptic treatment.
• Assists on research projects for new eye examination techniques and apparatus.
• Performs other duties as required.

Overview

Evaluation and treatment of adult and pediatric patients with disorders of the visual system, with an emphasis on binocular vision and eye movement difficulties.

Responsibilities

• Provides orthoptic treatment within the scope of practice allowable in the States of NH and VT, including, but not limited to, strabismus evaluations, infant vision assessments, retinoscopy, and refraction.
• Performs and interprets pediatric and adult patient screening examinations for physician review.
• Documents chief complaint and history of present illness, current medications and allergies, directed review of systems past medical history and pertinent family ocular history.
• Performs various tests, including, but not limited to, visual acuity testing, including vision assessment for infants and pediatric patients, lensometry measurements of current glasses, retinoscopy and manifest refraction, color vision testing, applanantion or tonopen tonometry, and confrontation visual fields.
• Performs strabismus evaluations including sensor and motor testing, evaluation of fresnel and spectacle prisms, convergence exercises, and orthoptic treatment performed independently.
• Assists on research projects for the development of new eye examination techniques, procedures and apparatus.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience as a Certified Clinical Orthoptist.
• Demonstrated ability to perform infant vision assessment using the Preferential Looking Test (Teller or grating acuity cards) and demonstrated ability to perform manifest and cycloplegic refraction in children.

Required Licensure/Certifications
