Job summary

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine invites exceptional candidates to join the Department of Ophthalmology as a full-time Assistant Professor of Clinical. The role emphasizes clinical care, teaching residents and medical students, and developing a regional/ national presence in ophthalmology.

Faculty members will participate in research and quality initiatives, potentially rotating to University of Miami Health System sites and satellite locations, while adhering to all policies

Qualifications

• Board-certified or eligible to practice medicine in Florida (Florida Medical License or University Medical Certificate).
• Active involvement in teaching residents and medical students is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide ophthalmology medical and surgical services as part of service rotation.
• Rotate to Bascom Palmer Eye Institute sites as schedule permits.
• Educate residents and medical students in the service.
• Maintain high clinical quality and productivity within the department.
• Build professional relationships with clinicians, trainees and staff.
• Develop referral networks within UM Health System and regional practices.
• Pursue translational and clinical research activities and secure funding as appropriate.
• Contribute to quality assurance protocols and clinical outcome studies.
• Participate in department/committee activities and CME as assigned.
• See patients at satellite locations as needed and adhere to University policies.
