Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a dedicated nutrition expert to serve the Population Health Services Organization. You will assess, develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate nutrition care plans based on clinical expertise and evidence-based practice.

You will educate patients and families, document in the EMR, and collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
• Registered Dietitian credential through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
• Current Maryland licensure as a Dietitian/Nutritionist required.
• Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian required.
• Completion of a specialty fellowship program, specialty certification, or a Master’s degree required.
• Must maintain CEUs every two years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and identify patients at nutrition risk using the Nutrition Care Process.
• Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and families.
• Document nutrition assessments, interventions, education, and follow-up care in the EMR.
• Serve as a nutrition resource for healthcare providers and provide education to clinical staff.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other staff to support continuity of care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and quality initiatives.
• Support department goals through meetings and community outreach.
• Maintain readiness for surveys and evaluations.
• Preceptor for dietetic internship and education programs.
• Engage in process improvement and research activities.
