The Clinical Nurse Supervisor, AKA Associate Clinical Manager (ACM), provides frontline clinical and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care. Through direct clinical care and support, visible leadership presence, and active supervision of team members, the ACM drives excellence in care delivery, workforce performance, and patient/family experience while upholding regulatory and organizational standards.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides care for children with life-threatening illnesses as well as those who are at serious risk for life threatening complications. We care for children from birth to 21 years of age. Patients treated here are experiencing multi-organ system failure, acute and chronic pulmonary conditions, meningitis, septic shock, near drowning, diabetic ketoacidosis, renal and/or hepatic failure, oncology/bone marrow transplant or airway management, among other needs. Major diagnostic categories include respiratory, neurologic, injury/poisoning, trauma, oncologic and infectious disease. The PICU also provides care for patients receiving solid organ transplant as well as neurosurgical, burn, orthopedic, ENT and general pediatric surgical patients. Patients in the PICU are cared for by a multidisciplinary team including pediatric intensivists, RNs and dedicated PICU respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, social workers and child life specialists. We provide family-centered care by identifying and addressing the needs of the patient and family throughout their hospitalization.

Our esteemed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit recently received the gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence from the AACN (American Association of Critical-Care Nurses)! There are only 15 PICUs in the nation with this designation, and our hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus is the only PICU in Colorado that has received this award.

Duties & Responsibilities

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. (These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.)

• Provides clinical leadership and management, oversees operations, and directs staffing support to ensure high-quality patient care, including serving in charge or other clinical roles, demonstrating clinical expertise, and reinforcing professional standards and competencies.
• Maintains leader visibility through rounding with patients, families, and team members to assess care delivery, ensure timely resolution of identified issues, promote positive experiences, and recognize best practices.
• Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and guidelines, in alignment with evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards.
• Ensures safe, efficient patient flow and resource utilization.
• Creates and manages staffing and scheduling resources to meet patient, operational, and departmental needs, adjusting resources as conditions change.
• Supports interviewing and hiring decisions, and oversees onboarding and training activities, providing input and recommendations in collaboration with departmental leadership.
• Develops, coaches, mentors, and directly supervises team members, including directing their work, supporting performance expectations and professional growth, handling employee complaints and grievances, conducting performance reviews, corrective action and discipline, and recommending termination decisions, where needed.
• Supports continuous improvement initiatives that enhance clinical practice, operations, and patient outcomes.
• Monitors departmental resources and expenditures and assists with meeting targets for productivity, efficiency, and waste reduction.
• Provides direct clinical care and support, visible leadership presence, and active supervision of team members.

Minimum Qualifications

* EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Master's degree in Nursing or a directly related health care field is preferred.

* EXPERIENCE - Three years of clinical experience. Previous PICU experience strongly preferred.

* LICENSURE - Registered Nurse (RN)

* CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire. ANCC recognized certification in clinical specialty. Depending on the unit/department, employees may also be required to have a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Adult Advanced Life Support (ACLS), and/or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC).

Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $108,198.40 to $162,297.60
