Indiana University Health Fort Wayne is opening a brand-new hospital in May 2027 and seeks a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our team. The CNS will shape our clinical education programs and build a foundation for high-quality patient care.

The role requires a Master’s in Nursing (CNS), a BSN, and an active RN license in Indiana or NLC, with 3–5 years of advanced clinical experience and BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • BSN is required.
  • Master of Nursing (CNS) is required.
  • Active RN license in Indiana or NLC RN license to practice as CNS.
  • 3–5 years of advanced clinical skills typically gained through nursing experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by AHA is required.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department policies.

Position Overview

A Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a Masters prepared Advance Practice Registered Nurse whose function is to improve outcomes in patient care. Functioning in five sub roles including: Expert in Clinical Practice, Educator, Leader, Researcher and Consultant, who positively influence the three spheres of practice: Patient Care, Nursing, and Systems in their respective specialties.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree of Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master in nursing as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) required.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license and meets regulatory requirements to practice as a CNS.
  • Requires 3-5 years of advanced clinical skills typically gained through nursing experience.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
