Barnes-Jewish Hospital – Main Campus is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Phase I PACU in the Plaza West Tower Weekend Option. The role requires 3/12 hour shifts with Saturday-Sunday 0700-1900 and weekday 0800-2030, plus 24 hours on call every six weeks in a 90-bed PACU that supports neuro, transplants, ortho, ENT, cardio, vascular, thoracic, trauma and spine patients.

RNs advance on the BJC Career Ladder through professional development and leadership, while maintaining top-level patient care.

Qualifications

• Role Purpose: Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of nursing care standards.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment and educates patients on post-treatment home care and medications.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance and engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and communicates across the continuum.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs per standards of care, considering patient values and cultural needs.
• Recognizes this is a safety-sensitive position with the need to work in a constant state of alertness.

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
