Job summary

Duke University Health System seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Duke Birthing Center at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. You will deliver advanced and specialized nursing care in a high‑reliability maternity unit, supporting a 24/7 multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe, family‑centered birth experience.

The role requires a BSN, NC RN licensure, and BLS certification, with at least two years of nursing experience.

Qualifications

BSN from an accredited program.
Minimum two years of nursing experience.
Current NC RN licensure or compact licensure.
BLS certification required.
Eligible for Clinical Nurse IV responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Plan and provide advanced and specialized nursing care in line with clinical standards.
Identify care needs across the patient continuum.
Collaborate to develop standards of care, patient education, and staff development.
Provide clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary care team.
Lead educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, and quality initiatives.
Support evaluation and use of equipment and resources to enhance care.
Guide professional growth through coaching, mentoring, and precepting.
Conduct performance reviews and advise on hiring and other personnel actions.
Lead initiatives to improve quality, safety, and patient experience.
